Markitown

Accessibility statement

Last updated October 21, 2026

Markitown is designed to make reading and writing Markdown accessible to everyone. Accessibility is part of both the app and this website: from navigating and reading a document to editing it, reviewing its structure, and exporting it. This statement explains our commitment, the features on each platform, and how to report a barrier.

Website conformance

Gabhel Studios SL declares that markitown.app conforms to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, Level AA. This statement applies to the Markitown website; the app’s capabilities are described separately below.

Our commitment covers perceivable content, operable controls, understandable information, and a structure compatible with assistive technologies. Keyboard navigation, visible focus, headings, control names, text alternatives, and contrast are part of that commitment. Text adapts to the available space without relying on manual line breaks for readability.

What we declare on the App Store

Apple’s accessibility labels let you check supported features by device family. Markitown’s current declarations in App Store Connect include VoiceOver, Voice Control, Dark Interface, Differentiate Without Color Alone, Sufficient Contrast, and Reduced Motion on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro. Larger Text is declared for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro; that label is not declared for Mac.

Captions and Audio Descriptions are not declared as supported features. Markitown is a document editor and viewer, not a video catalog. These labels describe specific app features and are separate from the website’s WCAG statement. Each platform’s listing shows the declarations Apple has published for that version.

Accessibility features on iPhone

VoiceOver lets you read a document and hear its formatting. Markitown announces elements such as bold, italic, code, and links; it expresses equations in words and provides diagram descriptions so that meaning does not depend on appearance alone.

The interface supports Dynamic Type, Voice Control, and Assistive Access. The High Contrast theme and the Increase Contrast and Reduce Motion settings complement the light and dark appearances. Interface states do not rely exclusively on color.

Reading documents and viewing their Markdown source are free. With the full version of Markitown, you can also edit documents and export them as tagged PDF and semantic HTML. These features let you preserve accessible structure when sharing the result.

Accessibility features on iPad

iPad includes the reading and display capabilities available on iPhone: VoiceOver, formatting announcements, Dynamic Type, Voice Control, contrast, and reduced motion. Your document remains the same file whether you are reading it or working with multiple windows.

The iPad interface adds support for keyboards, pointers, and shortcuts. With the full version of Markitown, Split view displays the Markdown source alongside the rendered document. You can choose the view that best suits the way you read or write, without having to rely exclusively on a touchscreen to edit.

Accessibility features on Mac

VoiceOver provides rotors for headings, links, tables, and code. Equations are read in words, and diagrams have descriptions. You can navigate the document’s structure rather than relying solely on its visual layout.

The menu bar and keyboard shortcuts provide access to reading and editing commands. The Tab Moves Focus option lets you use Tab to move focus. Controls have names for Voice Control, and the app supports the Increase Contrast and Reduce Motion settings.

Mac supports a dark interface, differentiation without relying on color alone, and sufficient contrast. The Larger Text label is not declared for Mac; you can adjust document text size within Markitown. With the full version, exports produce tagged PDF and semantic HTML.

Accessibility features on Apple Vision Pro

The spatial experience includes the seven features declared for this platform: VoiceOver, Voice Control, Larger Text, Dark Interface, Differentiate Without Color Alone, Sufficient Contrast, and Reduced Motion. You can position document windows in your workspace while retaining Markitown’s reading and display options.

System accessibility preferences are part of the app experience. The availability of specific features depends on the version of visionOS and the compatible device you use.

Accessibility of your documents

Accessibility Check reviews your document against seven rules and lets you jump to each issue. It is a tool for finding and fixing problems as you write, not an automatic certification of the content.

Headings, link text, image alternatives, and table organization affect the accessibility of the result. Markitown lets you work with that structure and, with the full version, carry it into tagged PDF and semantic HTML. The content you write and the resources you add remain part of your document.

Ongoing review and improvement

Our maintenance commitment includes reviewing the main reading, navigation, and editing workflows, screen reader compatibility, keyboard use, contrast, and motion and text-size preferences. Accessibility reports help us identify barriers and guide fixes.

The website and app evolve. We will keep this statement aligned with the features available and the corresponding declarations for each platform.
